Roger Lane enters his second season on the sidelines for the Maritime Men’s Soccer team in 2017.

During his first season with the program, Maritime finished the regular season with a 9-10 overall record and a mark of 5-6 in Skyline Conference matches. The team also picked up three victories in as many overtime matches on the season. At the conclusion of the year, freshman Michael Rodriguez was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year.

No stranger to the Skyline Conference, Lane played for Farmingdale for two seasons and helped the Rams make a pair of deep runs in the Skyline Conference playoffs in both of his seasons with the team. Following an appearance in the 2008 Skyline Conference Championship match, the Rams qualified for the ECAC Metro Championship and reached the semifinal round.

After two seasons with the Rams, Lane joined Pontifícia Universidade Católica in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to continue his soccer-playing career.

Upon his return to the United States, Lane attended the University at Buffalo, where finished his undergraduate degree and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. He later went on to add his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in May of 2016 from Buffalo.

While attending Buffalo, Lane also served on the staff of the University at Buffalo Men’s Soccer team while attending the university. During his tenure on the staff, Lane helped the team maintain a grade point average of 3.3 or greater for four-straight semesters, while also playing an integral role in the team’s fundraising efforts for its trip to England in the spring of 2015.

In 2015, he helped guide the Bulls to an appearance in the Mid-American Conference championship game, before falling by a 1-0 score to national powerhouse Akron.

In addition to attending school at Buffalo, Lane linked up with the Amherst Soccer Association in Amherst, New York and served as a travel soccer head coach. Part of his many duties included preparing and instructing weekly training sessions for both the boy and girl’s programs at a multitude of age groups.

Most recently with the organization, he guided the U-12 boys team to a 13-0 record, and also won the AIM Cup with the U-19 girls program. He has won several other championships with his teams throughout his tenure with Amherst Soccer.

While coaching with the Amherst Soccer Association, Lane also served as a coach with the Western New York Flash Academy since May of 2014, and led the U-11 girls’ team to an unblemished record and earned the Northstars Cup Championship.

In addition to his Doctorate and Bachelor’s Degree, Lane plans to obtain his Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in January of 2017 while also achieving his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “C” License in the Summer of 2017.

Lane currently resides in the New York Metropolitan area.
