Duane Woodward

        Duane Woodward begins his first year as assistant coach of the Maritime men's basketball team in 2012-13.

        Woodward comes to Maritime after a 13-year professional career overseas. Throughout his career, he played in 10 different countries and saw success for numerous teams, most notably during his tenure in the Cyprus League for AEL Limassol. Woodward helped lead AEL to back-to-back championships in 2003 and 2004 and was named Eurobasket.com All-Cyprus League Player of the Year and All-Cyprus League First Team, as well as the 2004 Eurobasket.com All-FIBA EuropeLeague Player of the Year, All-FIBA EuropeLeague First Team. Woodward was a two-time All-Star in his career and was also named to the 2008 Eurobasket.com Cyprus League All-Imports Team.
 
        Since returning back to the States, he has turned to coaching, but has still been playing professional as well. He has served as the seniors/prep coach for the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team the New York Panthers since 2008 and has also been a coach or instructor at numerous camps, including the University of Pennsylvania Basketball Camp and the Fairfield University Basketball Camp.

        Woodward earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing from Boston College in 1998, where he was also a starter for the Eagles’ basketball team in the tough BIG EAST Conference.
