John played under Coach Chuck Dickinson at Keystone Heights Sr. High School where he earned 4A Elite First Team recognition, All-Area Gainesville Sun 1st Team, Clay Today All County 1st Team and the Gary Cooper Leadership Award. John competed in weightlifting.
