Ted Tsirigotis

Ted Tsirigotis joined the Maritime football staff as defensive backs coach in 2022.  He boasts more than 30 years of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels.

Tsirigotis began his college coaching career at Syracuse University, where he served as linebackers coach for two seasons (1980-81).  From 1995-98, Tsirigotis was an assistant coach at Hofstra University.  He coached the special teams, linebackers and wide receivers during his time at Hofstra, helping six players reach the NFL.  Tsirigotis moved on to LIU Post in 1999, specializing in long snapping while also working with the linebackers and wide receivers.

At the high school level, Tsirigotis has been an athletic administrator and head coach in numerous sports.  He’s currently the district-wide Athletic Director for the Amityville Union Free School District, where he previously served as the head varsity football and baseball coach.  Tsirigoits has also coached varsity lacrosse, junior varsity football, junior varsity wrestling and freshman basketball during his four-decade-long career in education.

He played football at the University of Tampa from 1972-74, helping the Spartans win the 1972 Tangerine Bowl.  Tsirigotis received a bachelor’s degree in education from SUNY Cortland in 1976 and a master’s from LIU Post in 1988.
