Anthony Trotta was named Maritime’s Head Football Coach in July 2025. The 2022 NCAA/NFL Football Coaches Academy participant previously served as the Defensive Coordinator at both Union College and his alma mater, Wilkes University.
Trotta worked at Union during the 2024 season, where he was the Inside Linebackers Coach, as well as the Defensive Coordinator. Six of his defensive players earned all-conference honors that season, including two D3football.com All-Region selections. Under Trotta’s guidance, linebacker Cole DaSilva had 121 total tackles to rank among the top five nationally in 2024.
From 2022-23, he was the Defensive Coordinator and Safeties Coach at Wilkes. The Colonels held their opponents to just 18.3 points per game and scored five defensive touchdowns during the 2022 season. Wilkes finished with 13 interceptions and seven forced fumbles during a 7-3 campaign. Overall, the Colonels had 47 sacks and 124 tackles for loss in those two seasons, and nine defensive players were all-conference selections.
He began his coaching career while still a student at Wilkes, serving on the staff at Riverside High School in Pennsylvania from 2016-19. Trotta started as the Special Teams Coordinator, then was promoted to Defensive Coordinator and, eventually, Associate Head Coach. His first collegiate job was as the Defensive Line Coach and Video Coordinator at Wilkes in 2019. Trotta also worked at John Carroll University and Oberlin College for one season each before returning to Wilkes in 2022.
A 2017 Wilkes graduate with a degree in elementary and childhood education, he was the Colonels’ special teams captain during his senior year.
