Biography
2020: Started in all five games for the Privateers and scored a goal in the season opening 19-6 win against Marywood. Finished the year with 10 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.
2019: Started in all 19 games for the Privateers during their Skyline Championship run. Buchner led Maritime's stout defensive effort all season and finished the year by being named the Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Year. He caused a team high 33 turnovers and picked up 50 ground balls. In the Privateers first round NCAA Tournament game he picked up a crucial assist in the fourth quarter in their win against Grove City. He also picked up First-Team All-ECAC recognition at the conclusion of the season. Totaled 148 career ground balls, which moved him into 7th all-time in program history.
2018: Named Skyline All-Conference First Team following his sophomore season with the Privateers…led the team with both 20 caused turnovers and also led the team with 70 ground balls on the year…also went 1-for-4 on limited faceoff chances…started in all 15 of the team’s contests during his second season at Maritime…opened the season with five ground balls and a forced turnover against Centenary (N.J.) (2/24)…had an assist and also added two forced turnovers against Drew (2/28)…had four ground balls against Mass. Maritime (3/10)…set a season-high with seven ground balls against Western Connecticut (3/14)…had an assist while also adding another seven ground balls while setting a season-high with three caused turnovers on the road versus Purchase (3/17)…had an assist in his second consecutive game and added another seven loose ball pickups versus Coast Guard (3/22)…had two ground balls and two caused turnovers against Mount St. Vincent (3/24)…had six ground balls versus Merchant Marine (3/29)…picked up another six loose balls and forced a pair of giveaways against Salve Regina (4/4)…took a shot and went 1-for-1 on faceoff attempts at home against Delhi (4/7)…had seven ground balls and tied his season-high with another three caused turnovers in league play at Farmingdale (4/21)…tallied seven more ground balls and forced two giveaways in the regular season finale against Mount St. Mary (4/28)…made it three consecutive games with seven ground balls during the team’s Skyline Conference Semifinal matchup with Mount St. Mary (5/2).
