At Maritime:
2011: Senior Season – Once again, Rob received the highest weight room award in the off season attaining Super Iron Privateer Level by lifting a team high 1710 lbs in his 4 max outs.
2010: Junior Season – Rob turned in an ECFC First Team All-Conference performance leading the defensive line with 43 tackles. He also tallied 4 Sacks and 4 Tackles for Loss totaling 35 yards, forcing one fumble and recovering another. Rob also blocked another FG attempt against KP bringing his career total to 3. He was named Defensive Player of the Week against Gallaudet and was presented with the Coach Charlie Munsch Outstanding Award at season’s end. He received the highest weight room award in the off season attaining Super Iron Privateer Level by lifting a team high 1650 lbs in his 4 max outs. Rob made Academic Dean’s List for the Fall Semester.
2009: Sophomore Season- Rob established himself as a force to be reckoned with on the defensive line as he started all 10 games for the Privateers and garnered ECFC Second Team All-Conference accolades. He recorded 25 tackles (4 assists) and added 2 tackles for lost yardage, 1 QB hurry, one forced fumble and 2 recovered fumbles. Rob developed a knack for blocking field goal attempts in rivalry games. His first against Mass Maritime resulted in a TD return by Mike Oehl and his second came in the final seconds against USMMA which sent the game into overtime. In both games he was named Special Teams Player of the Week and he was also named Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Norwich game. Rob received the Privateer Level Award in off season program lifting 1470 lbs in his 4 max outs.
2008: Freshman Season - Played in all 9 games, starting 8 and earning a varsity letter. Gorgy recorded 13.5 tackles on the season with 3 Tackles for Loss and 2 Sacks.
Rob is majoring in Marine Operations and is a Cadet in the Regiment.
Prior to Maritime:
Rob played for Coach P. Frauenheim at Immaculata High School where he received 2nd Team Defense Somerset County and 1st Team Skyland Conference honors. Rob won the IHS R. Sutton Award for Defense. He was named to the NJ Non-Public 3rd Team in 2007. He was also a Central NJ Honorable Mention for Defense in 2006 & 2007. Rob also played lacrosse in high school.
