BRONX, NY – Four different players scored on Wednesday night, as the Maritime College women's soccer team earned its first win of the season. The Privateers (1-1-1) scored twice in each half en route to a 4-1 victory over Lehman (0-1-0) at South Field.
After
Daniella Jimenez (Copiague, NY) fired a shot wide in the 30
th minute,
Divine Awoleke (Queens, NY) was there to put away the rebound and give Maritime a 1-0 lead. The Lightning countered less than two minutes, however, knotting the score at 1-1 on a tally by Emily Huerta. In the 41
st minute, the Privateers went back in front when
Eva Garcia (Rockville Centre, NY) connected with
Emani Abdool (Islandia, NY), who notched her fourth goal of the season.
Maritime fired five shots on goal over the first 30 minutes of the second half, but was unable to get one by Lehman goalkeeper Katelyn Rice until Garcia found the back of the net in the 77
th minute. Jimenez then gave the Privateers an insurance tally in the 87
th minute. The four goals were Maritime's most in a game since a 6-0 victory over Yeshiva on Sept. 17, 2025.
Abdool has now scored in each of the Privateers' three games this year. Garcia's goal was her second of the season, while Awoleke and Jimenez each connected for her first goal of 2026.
Devon Etienne (Garden City, NY) (1-1-1) made three saves in the win.
Rice (0-1-0) was credited with five saves for the Lightning and took the loss. Jensy Peri, meanwhile, had the assist on Huerta's goal.
On Saturday, Maritime heads to SUNY Morrisville (2-2-0) for a 1 p.m. matchup. It will be the first meeting between the teams since 2015.
