FARMINGDALE, NY – The Maritime College women's soccer team traveled to face Farmingdale in a Skyline Conference contest at Wednesday night.
Eva Garcia (Rockville Centre, NY) scored the Privateers' first goal against the Rams since 2014, but Maritime (2-3-1, 1-1-0 Skyline) ultimately fell to Farmingdale (5-2-1, 2-0-0 Skyline) by a 12-1 margin at Rams Field.
After Farmingdale built a 3-0 lead, Garcia got the Privateers on the board in the 41
st minute. She took a feed from
Emani Abdool (Islandia, NY) off a corner kick and put it home for her seventh tally of the year. However, the Rams found the back of the net six times in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Farmingdale eventually added three more to make it a 12-1 final score.
Garcia and Abdool are now tied for the team lead in goals. Abdool's assist was her squad-best third of the season. Goalkeeper
Devon Etienne (Garden City, NY) (1-3-1) played the first 49 minutes and took the loss. She was credited with seven saves.
Kerlissia John (Happy Hill, Grenada) made one save over the final 41 minutes.
For the Rams, Kayla Mendez led the way with two goals and two assists. Katelyn Nunziato finished with two goals and an assist, while Jenna Biondo and Bianca Clarke each recorded a brace. Annalise Ferraro, meanwhile, had a goal and three assists. Charlotte Hoina (4-0-1) started in net and earned the win. She played 67 minutes before being relieved by Ollie Tobin.
Each of the Privateers' next six games are at Reinhart Field. Maritime begins the stretch by hosting Manhattanville (2-3-0, 1-1-0 Skyline) at 5 p.m. on Friday.
