THROGGS NECK, NY – Senior quarterback Jaden Rotella (Mt. Sinai, NY) rallied the Maritime College football team from a 16-point deficit to a 51-48 win at Curry on Saturday.  He threw three touchdown passes and ran for another in the victory, earning New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Offensive Player of the Week honors for that effort.

With the Privateers trailing 35-19 late in the first half, Rotella engineered an 11-play, 75-yard scoring drive that he capped with a 14-yard TD pass to Enrique Hernandez (Northport, NY) that brought Maritime within nine at halftime.  He then gave the Privateers a 45-42 lead with a one-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter.  After the Colonels went back in front, Maritime marched 75 yards down the field, with Rotella hitting Kenny Jozwicki (Connetquot, NY) for the game-winning score in the 51-48 triumph.

Overall, he was responsible for four touchdowns in the victory, throwing for three and rushing for another.  Rotella finished 18-for-27 passing for 279 yards and the three scores.  He also carried 10 times for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Rotella becomes the third different Privateer to be recognized by the NEWMAC this season.  Gianni Spinelli (Holtsville, NY) (Offense) and Dennis Matich (Floral Park, NY) (Defense) were both honored for their performances in the season-opening win over Worcester State.

After playing two straight on the road, Maritime (2-1, 0-0 NEWMAC) returns home on Saturday, when Salve Regina (3-0, 0-0 NEWMAC) visits Reinhart Field at 1 p.m. in the NEWMAC opener.
