NCAA Tournament Bracket
THROGGS NECK, NY – After winning its first Skyline Conference Championship in four years, the Maritime College men's lacrosse team found out its NCAA Tournament destination on Sunday night during the NCAA Selection Show. The Privateers (10-8) will visit Scranton (13-6) in the first round at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to face Bowdoin (16-1) on March 9.
Maritime clinched the Skyline Conference's automatic bid with a come-from-behind 13-12 victory over Merchant Marine in the Skyline Championship Game on Saturday.
Ryan Hannaford (Bayport, NY) scored six goals against the Mariners, including the tying and go-ahead tallies, to earn tournament Most Outstanding Player honors.
Nick Uzakewicz (Hauppauge, NY), meanwhile, ranks second nationally with 4.00 assists per game and was named Skyline Offensive Player of the Year. The Privateers also boast the Skyline Rookie of the Year,
Thomas McCarvill (Port Washington, NY), Skyline Co-Defensive Player of the Year,
Brody Smith (Rehoboth Beach, DE).
The Royals defeated Catholic, 9-7, in the Landmark Conference Championship Game on Saturday for its fourth consecutive conference title. Chase Ritchey was named tournament MVP after scoring twice in the championship game. Kyle Holmes is Scranton's leading scorer with 51 goals on the season, while Colin Giarrusso was honored as the Landmark Defensive Player of the Year.
This will be Maritime's fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and first since 2022. The Royals, meanwhile, are hosting a first-round game for the third straight season. The schools have never met in men's lacrosse.
