THROGGS NECK, NY – After combining for 10 goals in the Maritime College men's lacrosse team's 15-7 victory over New Paltz on Saturday,
Ryan Hannaford (Bayport, NY) and
Thomas McCarvil (Port Washington, NY) have both been recognized by the Skyline Conference. Hannaford was selected as the Skyline Offensive Player of the Week, while McCarvil earned Skyline Rookie of the Week honors.
Hannaford tallied seven points in the game, finding the back of the net five times and adding two assists. He also picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover. Thru the Privateers' first two contests this season, both victories, Hannaford has nine goals and 11 points.
This is his third career Skyline weekly awards. Last year, Hannaford was named Skyline Rookie of the Week on March 19 and Skyline Offensive Player of the Week on April 15.
McCarvil, meanwhile, recorded his second straight hat trick to open the season. Three of his five tallies on Saturday came in the fourth quarter, as Maritime pulled away for the 15-7 win. McCarvil attempted six shots on goal in the contest, five of which ended up in the net.
The Privateers (2-0) return to action on Wednesday, when they visit Stevens (2-0) at 7 p.m. The contest was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but got pushed back a day because of the winter storm. No spectators will be permitted at the rescheduled contest.
