THROGGS NECK, NY – One day after being named Skyline Conference Player of the Week, sophomore guard Zion Williams (Indianapolis, IN) of the Maritime College men's basketball team was honored as the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Divisions II/III Player of the Week.  He's the first Privateer to be selected as Met Player of the Week since Ryan Donovan on Feb. 22, 2022.

Williams averaged a double-double in two games last week.  In a loss to Yeshiva on Wednesday night, he had a career-high 29 points to go along with eight rebounds, seven assists and two blocks.  Williams then posted his third double-double of the season in Maritime's 90-73 win at St. Joseph's Brooklyn on Saturday.  He poured in 27 points while matching his career-high with 13 boards.  Williams added four assists in the victory.

In the two games, he recorded 28.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per outing.  Williams has scored 20 or more points in six straight games, notching 25.5 points per contest during that span.

The Privateers (11-10, 7-5 Skyline) have four games remaining in the regular season, beginning with a 5 p.m. matchup at St. Joseph's LI (10-11, 6-6 Skyline) on Tuesday.  Three of Maritime's final four contests are on the road.
