THROGGS NECK, NY – Despite 15 saves by Estela Quintero (Oceanside, NY), the Maritime College women's soccer team (2-4-0, 1-3-0 Skyline) suffered a 3-0 loss against Merchant Marine (4-3-2, 4-0-1 Skyline) at Reinhart Field on Saturday afternoon.  Quintero's 15 saves were the most by a Privateers goalkeeper since Liz Pomaro had 16 at Farmingdale on Sept. 14, 2021.

The Mariners got on the board in the 14^th minute, when Kennedy Crovo sent one past Quintero (2-4-0) from the edge of the box.  It would remain 1-0 until Morgan Mitchell doubled Merchant Marine's advantage in the 57^th minute.  Ruby Karls then put home a rebound after Lauren Enterline's 72^nd-minute shot was wide to cap the scoring in the Mariners' 3-0 victory.

Eva Fields (3-3-2) earned the win in goal for Merchant Marine.  Quintero (2-4-0), meanwhile, took the loss.

On Tuesday, Maritime returns to action with a 7 p.m. matchup against Purchase (3-4-0, 2-2-0 Skyline) at Reinhart Field.  The Privateers will host the Panthers for the second straight season and the third time in four years.
