PATCHOGUE, NY – The Maritime College women's soccer team traveled to St. Joseph's LI on Wednesday night. Playing without three starters, the shorthanded Privateers (2-3-0, 1-2-0 Skyline) suffered a 9-0 loss to the Golden Eagles (4-2-1, 2-1-0 Skyline) at Danzi Stadium.
Emily Farrington put St. Joseph's LI on the board just 53 seconds into the game, and the Golden Eagles held a 6-0 lead at halftime. St. Joseph's LI added three second-half tallies to finish off a 9-0 victory. The Golden Eagles attempted 32 shots in the contest, and Maritime goalkeeper
Estela Quintero (Oceanside, NY) (2-3-0) made 11 saves.
Seven different St. Joseph's LI players scored, with Farrington and Alyssa Schimmenti each finding the back of the net twice. Kristin Vahle (4-2-1) played the first half in net and was credited with the win.
Up next for the Privateers is a 3 p.m. matchup against Merchant Marine (3-3-2, 3-0-1 Skyline) at Reinhart Field on Saturday. Maritime plays three of its next four games at home.
