Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Garcia Leads Privateers Past Yeshiva

LYNDHURST, NJ – The Maritime College women's soccer team returned to action for the first time in 11 days on Wednesday night.  Eva Garcia (Rockville Centre, NY) had a career-high five goals, the second-highest single-game total in program history, as the Privateers (2-1-0, 1-0-0 Skyline) began their Skyline Conference schedule with a 6-0 victory over Yeshiva (0-8-0, 0-7-0 Skyline) at Riverside County Park.

Garcia got Maritime on the board just 3:38 into the contest, when she put home a feed from Sara Williams (Oceanside, NY).  Williams connected with Garcia again in the 13th minute, increasing the Privateers' advantage to 2-0.  Lacey Baric (Fort Lee, NJ) made it 3-0 four minutes later off an assist by Hannah Crown (Athens, NY).

It would remain that way until Garcia completed a hat trick in the 71st minute.  She netted her fourth in the 85th minute, then added another in the 88th minute.  Garcia notched Maritime's third-ever five-goal game.  Jorrie Trenkamp achieved the feat twice in 2010.  Sara Wright holds the single-game school scoring record with seven goals at Yeshiva on Oct. 25, 2019.

With the five tallies, Garcia has now been credited with eight of the Privateers' 11 goals this season.  Baric found the back of the net for the second time, while Williams and Ava Morrill (New Windsor, NY) each handed out a pair of assists.  Morrill moved within one assist of tying the all-time program mark.

Maritime goalkeeper Estela Quintero (Oceanside, NY) (2-1-0) recorded one save in her first career clean sheet.  Mayaan Berkowitz (0-6-0) tallied 14 saves for the Maccabees.

Up next for the Privateers is a 3 p.m. matchup with Mount St. Vincent (2-1-1, 0-0-0 Skyline) at Reinhart Field on Saturday.  The game will immediately follow the Maritime men's team's contest against the Dolphins, which gets underway at 12 p.m.
