OLD WESTBURY, NY – Despite 12 saves by
Estela Quintero (Oceanside, NY), the Maritime College women's soccer team (3-5-0, 2-4-0 Skyline) suffered a 3-0 loss to Old Westbury (5-4-0, 2-3-0 Skyline) at Panther Park on Saturday. It was Quintero's fourth straight game with double-digit saves.
Quintero made seven saves in the first half, keeping the contest scoreless despite the Privateers being outshot 13-2. It would remain 0-0 until the 66
th minute, when Stefany Donnelly snuck one past Quintero. Jamie Garcia Sorto doubled the Panthers' lead in the 80
th minute, then Donnelly capped the scoring with her second goal of the game in the 87
th minute.
Overall, Old Westbury had a 26-5 advantage in shots, including a 15-3 edge in shots on goal. Kristen Gallagher (5-4-0) stopped all three Maritime shots she faced. With her two goals, Donnelly now has five on the season. Garica Sorto's tally was her second. Briana Sayoc and Skylar Catrambone, meanwhile, each recorded an assist for the Panthers.
On Tuesday, the Privateers return to Reinhart Field for a 5 p.m. matchup with Lehman (0-6-0). It will be Maritime's final non-conference game of the season.
