Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Maritime Falls at Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, NY – On Wednesday, the Maritime College women's soccer team traveled to Old Westbury for its only road contest in a five-game span.  Kiera Ford (Montgomery, NY) put the Privateers (4-3-0, 1-3-0 Skyline) in front with her eighth goal of the year, but the Panthers (4-4-1, 2-1-0 Skyline) scored twice in the second half to notch a 2-1 victory at Panther Park.

Ford's tally came just over five minutes into the game.  Ava Morrill (New Windsor, NY) played one into the box, and Ford put it home to give Maritime the early advantage.

It remained 1-0 until the 53rd minute.  After Jocelyn Forseth's shot was played off the goal line by the Privateers' defense, the rebound came out to Jaylyn Sanchez.  She passed to Eleni Petri, who found the back of the net to tie the game.  Old Westbury then earned a penalty kick in the 69th minute.  Jocelyn Forseth stepped up to the spot and converted the attempt to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead.

Old Westbury outshot Maritime 8-2 in the second half, but Devon Etienne (Garden City, NY) (5-4-0) made four saves in the period to keep it a 2-1 score.  She finished with nine saves overall.  The Panthers' Kristen Gallagher (4-4-1) was credited with four saves in the winning effort.

Maritime returns to Reinhart Field on Friday for a 5 p.m. matchup with defending Skyline champion Mount St. Vincent (3-3-1, 2-0-1 Skyline).
