ATLANTA – The Maritime College football program is included as part of a new exhibit that recently opened at the College Football Hall of Fame. A Privateers helmet is on display in the exhibit titled "From the Battlefield to the Gridiron."
Maritime is one of 13 schools featured. The exhibit also includes artifacts from the five U.S. Service Academies (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, Navy) and the five Senior Military Colleges that play football (Citadel, Norwich, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, VMI), as well as the other two U.S. Maritime Academies (Maine Maritime, Mass Maritime).
In addition to helmets, jerseys, photos and other memorabilia, the exhibit has detailed information on great service rivalries, school history and top moments on the football field. There is also a section honoring the over 400 Hall of Famers who were members of the military, including 13 who lost their lives while serving the nation.
