NEWBURGH, NY – On Saturday afternoon, the Maritime College women's lacrosse team traveled to Mount St. Mary for its regular season finale.  Needing a win to clinch a home game in the Skyline Conference Tournament, the Privateers (8-5, 5-3 Skyline) fell to the Knights (10-5, 5-3 Skyline) by a 14-11 count at Kaplan Field.

Jenna Lesiewicz (Wading River, NY) put Maritime on the board first, but Victoria Ward scored for the Knights just 14 seconds later to tie the game.  That goal started a 7-1 Mount St. Mary run, as the Knights opened up a 7-2 advantage early in the second quarter.  Morgan Tracy (Cambridge, MD) snapped the spurt at the 11:36 mark of the second quarter, and Emily Commodore (Tinton Falls, NJ) pulled the Privateers within 9-5 at halftime.

Maritime opened the third quarter with four straight goals, evening the score at 9-9 on Gabrielle Nicolosi's (West Islip, NY) tally with 8:18 to go in the quarter.  After the Knights took an 11-9 lead into the fourth quarter, Commodore brought the Privateers back within one when she put one home off a pass from Nicolosi at the 12:11 mark.  However, Mount St. Mary would notch three of the last four tallies to earn a 14-11 victory and the No. 4 seed in the Skyline Tournament.  Maritime will enter its third straight Skyline Tournament as the No. 5 seed.
