PATCHOGUE, NY –
On Friday night, the Maritime College men's and women's swimming & diving teams traveled to St. Joseph's LI for a meet that also included Brooklyn.  The Privateer men defeated both opponents, earning a 123-53 victory over St. Joseph's LI and topping Brooklyn, 104-86.  The Maritime women's squad, meanwhile, suffered a pair of losses, falling 87-69 to the Golden Eagles and 106-68 against the Bulldogs at the Danzi Center Natatorium.

Rowan Hayes (Floral Park, NY) won both of his individual events.  He took first in the 100 yard butterfly (54.14) and 100 yard breaststroke (1:02.39).  Parker Endress (Hamburg, NY) finished second behind his teammate in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.69) while also earning the victory in the 200 yard individual medley (2:29.94).  Endress capped the meet by teaming with Victor Pineda (Bronx, NY), Liam McManus (Islip, NY) and Ryan Colombo (Cortland Manor, NY) on Maritime's triumphant 200 yard freestyle relay team.

Hayes was on the winning quartet in the 200 yard medley relay, where he was joined by Gabriel Abreu (New York, NY), Alex Anastasiades (Rockaway Beach, NY) and Matt Klimek (Malverne, NY).  Klimek later picked up an individual victory in the 1000 yard freestyle (12:13.53) to go along with a second-place showing in the 500 yard freestyle (5:40.85).  McManus took second place in the 100 yard freestyle (57.70), while Pineda grabbed second place in the 200 yard freestyle (2:15.30).  He also led a 1-2 showing in the 100 yard backstroke, finishing in 1:07.34 ahead of Abreu's 1:08.62.

The Maritime women opened the meet by touching first in the 200 medley relay.  The quartet of Kirsten Argueta (Englewood, NJ), Oceana Elefante (Sayville, NY), Alexa Nolan (Queens, NY) and Lauren Barriteau (Laurelton, NY) posted a time of 2:24.50.  Barriteau later placed second in the 500 freestyle (6:55.32).  Elefante, meanwhile, had a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle (1:06.29).  Grace Devaney (Lynbrook, NY) added a second-place showing in the 200 freestyle (2:46.90).

While this was the final competition for the men's team before the Skyline Conference Championships in January, the Maritime women have one dual meet remaining on the schedule.  The Privateers will welcome John Jay to the Riesenberg Aquatics Center at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6.
