Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Privateers Defeated at Manhattanville

PURCHASE, NY – After playing back-to-back non-conference games, the Maritime College women's soccer team resumed its Skyline Conference schedule at Manhattanville on Tuesday afternoon.  The Valiants (4-3-3, 3-2-0 Skyline) got on the board early and had a 4-0 halftime lead before pulling away for a 9-1 victory over the Privateers (5-6-0, 1-5-0 Skyline) at GoValiants.com Field.

Alexandra Brauer scored in the third minute, then Mia Castaneda made it 2-0 in the sixth minute.  Kelly Barrera, who assisted on the first two goals, found the back of the net in the 32nd minute before Brauer notched her second tally of the game in the 43rd minute.  After Manhattanville increased its advantage to 9-0, Sara Williams (Oceanside, NY) put one home for the Privateers in the 69th minute.  It was Maritime's first goal against the Valiants since 2019 (and just the third in nine all-time meetings).

Williams notched her fourth tally of the season.  Goalkeeper Devon Etienne (Garden City, NY) (4-6-0), meanwhile, was credited with eight saves in the loss.

Brauer, Drita Tinaj and Alessia Cioffi all had two goals for the Valiants, who outshot the Privateers 35-3.  Macey Girard (4-3-3) started in goal and made one save.  Alexa Bennett played the final 34 minutes in relief of Girard.

On Friday, the Privateers begin a three-game homestand with a 4 p.m. matchup against Purchase (3-11-1, 1-5-0 Skyline).  Maritime will honor seniors Annaliese Etienne (Garden City, NY) and Kiera Ford (Montgomery, NY) prior to the contest.
