Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Garcia, Ford Lead Maritime Over St. Joseph’s Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – On Saturday afternoon, the Maritime College women's soccer team (7-7-1, 2-6-1 Skyline) earned a 6-0 victory over St. Joseph's Brooklyn (1-13-0, 1-9-0 Skyline) at Aviator Field.  Eva Garcia (Rockville Centre, NY) had a hat trick for the Privateers, while Kiera Ford (Montgomery, NY) had a hand in four of the six goals, scoring twice and assisting on two others.

After an early St. Joseph's Brooklyn red card, Maritime took advantage of having the extra player.  Ford opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, then Garcia found the back of the net three minutes later.  Garcia made it 3-0 with an unassisted tally in the 37th minute.

In the 74th minute, Ford scored her league-leading 14th goal of the year off an assist from Ava Morrill (New Windsor, NY).  Madeline Powers (Atlantic Beach, NY) added a tally of her own in the 80th minute before Garcia completed her second hat trick of the season in the 82nd minute.  Ford was credited with the assist, giving her six points in the game.

With two goals, Ford moved her into a tie for second place on the Privateers' all-time list with 34 career tallies.  Garcia, who matched her three-goal effort at Yeshiva on Sept. 3, has now scored eight times this season.  Powers, meanwhile, recorded her second goal of the year.

Devon Etienne (Garden City, NY) (6-8-1) made two saves in her third shutout of the season.  Maritime outshout St. Joseph's Brooklyn 28-3, with Lindsay Dominguez notching one save for the Bears before receiving a red card.  Sydney Castillo (0-2-0) played the final 71 minutes in goal and took the loss.  She was credited with eight saves.

The Privateers conclude the 2024 campaign with a 7 p.m. visit to Mount St. Mary (5-10-3, 4-4-2 Skyline).  With a victory, Maritime will finish with a .500 record for the first time since 2013.
