NEWBURGH, NY – The Maritime College women's soccer team played its final game of the 2024 season on Tuesday night. Needing a win to secure a .500 record for the first time since 2013, the Privateers (7-9-1, 2-8-1 Skyline) suffered a 10-0 defeat against host Mount St. Mary (6-10-3, 5-4-2 Skyline) at Kaplan Field.
Grace Morra scored a pair of early goals for the Knights. Kaitlin Hansen added a 23
rd-minute tally before Kaelyn Greene made it a 4-0 game at halftime. Mount St. Mary, which outshot Maritime 32-2 in the contest, then found the back of the net six times in the second half, with Victoria Maffettone accounting for three of those goals.
Devon Etienne (Garden City, NY) (6-9-1) played the first 73 minutes in net for the Privateers and took the loss. She made seven saves and allowed seven goals. After starting in the field,
Jamie Kibler (Throggs Neck, NY) moved into the goal for the final 17 minutes and registered four saves while giving up three tallies.
Maffettone had an assist to go along with her hat trick, while Morra, Hansen and Greene all scored twice. Darla Petricca had the other Mount St. Mary goal. Christina Kakavas (5-9-3) was credited with one save in the shutout.
Maritime's seven victories this season were its most since 2013 and represented the third-highest single-season win total in school history.
Kiera Ford (Montgomery, NY), meanwhile, is currently tied for the Skyline Conference lead with 14 goals.
