THROGGS NECK, NY – On Friday afternoon, the Maritime College women's soccer team played its final home game of the season. The Privateers (6-7-1, 1-6-1 Skyline), however, came up on the short end of a 9-0 score against Farmingdale (6-7-4, 5-0-3 Skyline) at Reinhart Field.
The Rams opened the scoring just 1:39 into the contest, and Farmingdale had a 3-0 lead after nine minutes. The margin was 6-0 at halftime before the Rams added three more tallies in the second half.
Kayla Mendez had a hat trick for Farmingdale, which outshot Maritime 37-3. Rachel McAuliffe scored twice, while Alyse Rivera notched a goal and two assists. Alexandra Coloma was also credited with two assists.
Devon Etienne (Garden City, NY) (5-7-1) made 12 saves in net for the Privateers. Hailey Stork (2-0-1), meanwhile, earned the win for Farmingdale.
Maritime's final three games are all on the road. The Privateers begin the stretch on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. visit to Merchant Marine (7-2-4, 6-1-2 Skyline).
