Privateers Match Single-Game Scoring Record In Win

THROGGS NECK, NY – Eight different players scored, including three who had multiple goals, as the Maritime College women's soccer team (6-6-1) notched a dominant 13-0 win over Medgar Evers (0-5-0) at Reinhart Field on Tuesday.  The 13 goals equaled the single-game school record, as did the 13-goal margin of victory.

Maritime had an 11-0 halftime advantage after outshooting the Cougars 44-1 in the first half.  Ava Morrill (New Windsor, NY) got the scoring started with a 25-yard chip in the sixth minute.  Kiera Ford (Montgomery, NY) made it 2-0 in the 12th minute before Morrill found the back of the net for a second time in the 19th minute.  Thirty seconds later, Sara Williams (Oceanside, NY) put one away to increase the lead to 4-0.

After Madeline Powers (Atlantic Beach, NY) scored in the 21st minute, Annaliese Etienne (Garden City, NY) sent a blast from 40 yards out for her first goal since Sept. 17, 2021, a span of 43 games.  Morrill completed a hat trick in the 28th minute, then Ford came streaking down the left side for her 12th tally of the season.

A pair of newcomers accounted for the next three Maritime scores.  Hannah Honor (Smithtown, NY) recorded her first collegiate goal in the 35th minute, while Lana Luckette (Hatteras Island, NC) registered her first tally in the 38th minute.  The duo connected for the Privateers' 11th goal just before halftime, when Luckette found Honor just outside the box, and she put it home.  Maritime added two more in the second half, as Stephanie DeMan (Millbrook, NY) capped the scoring with her first career goal.

The 13-goal output was the Privateers' most since Sept. 17, 2015.  That 13-0 victory also came against Medgar Evers.

Hannah Crown (Athens, NY) finished with three assists, while Eva Garcia (Rockville Centre, NY), Alexa Heise (Levittown, NY) and Jamie Kibler (Throggs Neck, NY).  Devon Etienne (Garden City, NY) (5-6-1) started in goal and played the first 23 minutes before being relieved by Marina Bjazevic Couto (Sao Paulo, Brazil).  Medgar Evers goalkeeper Seeta Tomby (0-2-0) made 12 saves on the Privateers' 56 shots, 24 of which went on net.aHanna
