THROGGS NECK, NY – Maritime College is represented by three student-athletes on the Spring 2023 Skyline Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.  Blake Gnepper (Ottawa Hills, OH) was chosen from the baseball team, while Sarah Malone (Land O'Lakes, FL) was the Privateers' honoree in women's lacrosse.  Men's lacrosse player Patrick Schnell (Jericho, NY) was also selected.

Gnepper proved invaluable to the Privateers' success in 2023, serving as a backup/bullpen catcher.  He got into three games and drew a bases loaded walk in his first collegiate plate appearance at John Jay on March 26.  On May 7, Gnepper recorded his first career hit, a two-run single, and eventually came around to score in the second game of a doubleheader sweep against Yeshiva.

Malone started the season as an attacker before finishing it as Maritime's goalkeeper.  Offensively, she collected 19 points on seven goals and 12 assists while also picking up 18 ground balls.  Malone made three starts between the pipes, including both of the Privateers' Skyline Tournament contests, and earned the win after making seven saves against St. Joseph's LI in the semifinals.

Schnell appeared in 15 games this season and tallied 12 goals.  He scored the game-winner with 4:43 left in Maritime's 10-9 victory over Merchant Marine on April 1.  Schnell finished with five points (three goals, two assists) in that contest.  Despite missing four games due to injury, he still ended up fifth on the team with 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists).

The Skyline Conference recognizes an All-Sportsmanship Team in each sport, with one student-athlete from every school that participates in that sport honored.  Head coaches choose their program's representative based on "upholding the conference's commitment to sportsmanship and fair play."
