Sarah Lawrence Shuts Out Maritime

YONKERS, NY – In a contest that was delayed a day due to poor field conditions caused by Friday's storm, the Maritime College women's soccer team visited defending Skyline Conference champion Sarah Lawrence on Sunday.  The Privateers (5-4-0, 2-3-0 Skyline) suffered their third straight defeat, falling 9-0 to the Gryphons (5-3-3, 2-0-2 Skyline) at Fleming Field.

Sarah Lawrence outshot Maritime 20-0 in the first half, with seven of those attempts finding the back of the net.  Cora Colvin opened the scoring in the eighth minute, then added another goal in the 15th minute.  Sarah Lawrence scored five more times in the opening 45 minutes, taking a 7-0 lead into the halftime break.  In the second half, the Gryphons got two more tallies from Ava Warren and Sydney Olken to complete the scoring in a 9-0 triumph.

Maritime goalkeeper Devon Etienne (Garden City, NY) (5-4-0) made seven saves in the losing effort.  Bridgette Lee (4-0-2) started in net for the Gryphons and was credited with the win.  She gave way to Maya Pfeiffer in the second half.

After playing three out of four on the road, the Privateers will be at home for four of their next five.  Maritime welcomes Manhattanville (4-3-1, 1-1-1 Skyline) to Reinhart Field on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
