Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Maritime Topped By Sarah Lawrence

THROGGS NECK, NY – On Tuesday night at Reinhart Field, the Maritime College women's soccer team took on Sarah Lawrence.  Playing in cold, rainy and windy conditions, the Privateers (3-6-0, 2-3-0 Skyline) suffered a 5-0 loss to the Gryphons (7-3-1, 4-0-0 Skyline).

Sarah Lawrence struck early, scoring a pair of goals in the first five minutes.  The Gryphons added another tally in the 21st minute before extending their lead to 4-0 at halftime.  In the 55th minute, Sarah Lawrence's Lily Matalus found the back of the net for the second time in the game to make it 5-0, which would prove to be the final.

The Privateers were unable to get anything going offensively, as Courtney Curley's (Rochester, NY) shot in the second minute would prove to be Maritime's only offensive opportunity.  Sarah Lawrence, meanwhile, attempted 26 shots on Maritime goalkeeper Emily Commodore (Tinton Falls, NJ) (1-3-0), who was credited with eight saves.

Bridgette Lee (4-2-0) and Maya Pfeiffer split time in net for the Gryphons, each playing a half.  Matalus scored twice, while Cora Colvin had a goal and an assist for Sarah Lawrence.

Up next, Maritime hits the road on Friday for a 4 p.m. matchup against Manhattanville (4-6-1, 4-1-1 Skyline).
