BROOKLYN, NY – The Maritime College women's soccer team squared off with St. Joseph's Brooklyn at Aviator Field on Saturday night.  The Bears (5-9-1, 3-7-0 Skyline) got a hat trick from Mia Castaneda, the Skyline Conference's leading scorer, en route to a 6-1 victory over the Privateers (3-11-0, 2-8-0 Skyline).

Castaneda found the back of the net just 1:51 into the contest, then scored for a second time in the 21^st minute.  In the 23^rd minute, Maritime cut its deficit in half when Ava Morrill (New Windsor, NY) took a corner kick and connected with Kathryn Sandford (Floral Park, NY), who put it away for her team-leading seventh goal of the year. 

St. Joseph's Brooklyn made it 3-1 on Ashley Pintado's 35^th minute tally, then Castaneda completed her hat trick in the 58^th minute.  It was her 19^th goal of the season.  The Bears added two late scores to close out the 6-1 victory.

Emily Commodore (Tinton Falls, NJ) (1-7-0) made three saves in a losing effort, while the Bears' Alexis Breen (1-0-1) was also credited with three saves.  Castaneda had a hand in five of the six St. Joseph's Brooklyn goals, as she also recorded two assists.  Katherine Barrios, meanwhile, finished with a goal and two assists for the Bears.

Maritime has one game remaining on its 2022 schedule.  The Privateers conclude the season by visiting Old Westbury (5-9-1, 2-7-1 Skyline) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
