Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Season Ends With Loss at Old Westbury

FARMINGDALE, NY – On Wednesday night, the Maritime College women's soccer team traveled to Old Westbury for its 2022 season finale.  The Privateers (3-12-0, 2-9-0 Skyline) got on the board first, and it was a 1-1 game at halftime, but the Panthers (7-9-1, 3-7-1 Skyline) scored four times in the second half to notch a 5-1 victory at Rams Field.

Anya Josberger (Congers, NY) gave Maritime a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute, when she snuck one past Old Westbury goalkeeper Natalie Intrieri.  The Panthers leveled the score eight minutes later.  Emily Commodore (Tinton Falls, NJ) made the save on Mia Almonte, but the rebound went right to Bernadelle Dorvil, who put it home to tie the game.

It remained 1-1 until the 57th minute, when Nicole Abalco gave Old Westbury the lead.  The Panthers added another goal by Amanda Ustick in the 60th minute, then Almonte put in a pair of late tallies to make the final score 5-1.

Commodore (1-8-0) finished with 12 saves, as Maritime was outshot 26-7.  Josberger's goal, meanwhile, was her third of the year.

Intrieri (4-7-1) made four saves for the Panthers before being relieved by Evelyn Martel.  Almonte now has 14 goals on the season after scoring twice.  She also had an assist.
