THROGGS NECK, NY – The Maritime College men's soccer team recognized its three graduating seniors—
Thomas Luongo (Center Moriches, NY),
Ege Ozaman (Queens, NY) and
Liam Reddan (Sayville, NY)—prior to Friday night's home finale against Farmingdale. The Privateers (1-12-3, 0-8-2 Skyline) were unable to send the trio off with a victory, however, as the Rams (7-4-2, 5-2-2 Skyline) earned a 5-0 victory at Reinhart Field.
Danny Madeira (New Rochelle, NY) made three early saves before Farmingdale's Luke Kasulke snuck one past him in the 27
th minute. Sam Anjo then extended the Rams' lead to 2-0 with his 39
th-minute blast.
Maritime was forced to play with 10 men for the remainder of the game after
George Kanellopoulos (Bayside, NY) was shown a red card early in the second half. The Privateers, thanks to the excellent play of Madeira in goal, weathered the storm until the 60
th minute, when Michael Lanouette made it 3-0 Farmingdale. Kasulke added a goal in the 70
th minute, then another in the 75
th to complete a hat trick.
Farmingdale outshot Maritime 30-11 in the game, with Madeira (0-8-2) posting a career-high 14 saves in a losing effort.
Fanis Tsatalios (Wayne, NJ) was credited with the only shot on goal against Rams goalkeeper Justin Silva (7-4-2).
There's one game remaining on Maritime's 2022 schedule. The Privateers visit Mount St. Vincent (6-4-3, 4-2-3 Skyline) at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
