Privateers Honor Seniors at Home Finale

THROGGS NECK, NY – The Maritime College women's soccer team recognized its four graduating seniors—Courtney Curley (Rochester, NY), Erin Hartill (Sound Beach, NY), Anya Josberger (Coxsackie, NY) and Liz Pomaro (Farmingville, NY)—prior to Tuesday night's game against Mount St. Vincent.  In their final home match of the season, the Privateers (3-10-0, 2-7-0 Skyline) dropped a 5-0 decision to the Dolphins (10-3-0, 8-1-0 Skyline) at Reinhart Field.

Curley nearly gave Maritime a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, but her attempt was saved by Mount St. Vincent goalkeeper Brooke Frierson.  The Dolphins then got on the scoreboard in the 27th minute, when Emily McCarthy's shot clanged off the inside of the goal post and crossed the line to put Mount St. Vincent.  Victoria Gamarra scored 24 seconds later, and Lilli Marin's goal in the 34th minute gave the Dolphins a 3-0 lead.

Mount St. Vincent added to its lead on Emily Legler's tally in the 81st minute.  Legler then assisted on an 85th-minute goal by Arianna Morales to cap the scoring in the Dolphins' 5-0 victory.

Emily Commodore (Tinton Falls, NJ) (1-6-0) was credited with six saves in a losing effort for the Privateers.  Frierson (5-1-0) and Javiera Sanchez each played a half in goal for Mount St. Vincent.  Frierson made one save and Sanchez stopped two Maritime shots.

Maritime ends the season with a pair of road games, starting with a 7 p.m. contest at St. Joseph's Brooklyn (4-9-1, 2-7-0 Skyline) on Saturday.
