2022 Maritime Baseball Schedule

THROGGS NECK, NY –
The Maritime College baseball team has released its schedule for the 2022 campaign.  After two seasons impacted by COVID-19, the Privateers will play a full, 37-game slate in 2022, starting with a home doubleheader against Plattsburgh on Feb. 27.

Maritime will embark on a full schedule for the first time since 2019.  The 2020 campaign ended after just seven games due to the pandemic, while the Privateers only faced conference opponents during the limited 2021 season.

"We're excited to play a full schedule for the first time in three years," Head Coach Charlie Barbieri said.  "We have a talented group of young players and veterans who have put in a ton of work this fall and in the offseason.  Needless to say, our guys can't wait to get back on the field!"

Following the season-opening twinbill with Plattsburgh, the Privateers will travel to Fort Pierce, FL, for five games before returning home for a doubleheader with CCNY on March 12.  Maritime will play a total of 19 home contests—nine doubleheaders and a single game against FDU-Florham on April 19.  The Privateers also visit FDU-Florham on March 22 in their final game before the start of conference play.

Skyline Conference action kicks off with a doubleheader at Farmingdale on March 26.  The Privateers then host Old Westbury for a pair of games on March 27.  After last season's modified format that featured four-game weekend series, the Skyline has reverted back to its traditional 20-game schedule with one doubleheader against each conference foe.  Maritime's other home Skyline opponents are St. Joseph's Brooklyn (April 2), Merchant Marine (April 10), St. Joseph's LI (April 23) and Purchase (May 1).  The twinbill against Purchase will mark the Privateers' annual Senior Day celebration.

Six teams will qualify for the Skyline Tournament, which begins with a pair of single-elimination games (No. 6 at No. 3, No. 5 at No. 4) on May 4.  The winners of those two contests will then join the No. 1 and 2 seeds for the double-elimination championship round from May 6-8.
