RETURN TO CAMPUS: SUMMER/FALL 2021
UPDATED RETURN TO CAMPUS GUIDANCE FOR STUDENTS: SUMMER/FALL 2021 (As of July 29)
The College continues to monitor the situation regarding the increased spread of the COVID-19 Delta Variant. The CDC estimates that the spread will continue this Fall. As such, Maritime College has adopted local campus regulations (independent of the FDA approval process and similar to other SUNY Campuses) requiring vaccinations of all students living in residence halls and all student-athletes. Limited medical and religious exemptions will be considered. This updated guidance modifies the July 14, 2021, Return to Campus Guidance. Please continue to monitor your emails and the College's website for updates.
Vaccination Requirement
Maritime College requires all students living in residence halls and student-athletes (varsity and club sports) to be fully vaccinated before returning to campus for the fall 2021 term. People are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 more than two weeks after receiving the second dose in a two-dose series (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or more than two weeks after receiving a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson).
The College reserves the right to assign exempted unvaccinated students rooms with other exempted unvaccinated students. In addition, Maritime College coaches reserve the right not to permit exempted unvaccinated students from participating in games if such participation would force the College to cancel/forfeit the game.
Exempted unvaccinated students who live on-campus, exempted unvaccinated student-athletes, and commuter students who are not vaccinated must participate in weekly COVID-19 testing.
Medical and Religious Exemptions
Students requesting an exemption from the vaccination requirement must submit a written request for exemption to Student Health Services (healthservices@sunymaritime.edu) no later than Friday, August 13, 2021. Supporting medical or religious documentation must be provided.
