Men's Lacrosse Season Comes to an End in the NCAA Tournament

The incredible 2021 season for the Maritime College men's lacrosse team has come to an end on Saturday afternoon as they fell to St. John Fisher 21-6. The Privateers entered the first round of the NCAA tournament with a perfect 8-0 record following their championship win in the Skyline Conference tournament.

Maritime traveled to Rochester, NY for their first round matchup and second consecutive NCAA appearance. Unfortunately, the Cardinals held the advantage from the opening whistle and the Privateers just couldn't get the comeback started soon enough. Trailing 10-1 in the second quarter, Maritime got their offensive momentum going and scored three straight goals to make it a six goal advantage.

Connor Buschle (Bellport, NY/St. John the Baptist) got the scoring going with a goal off an assist from Patrick Schnell (Jericho, NY/Jericho), and then Schnell scored one of his own before Charles Longo (Bellport, NY/Bellport) capped off the scoring run. Unfortunately, the Privateers couldn't keep the scoring going and ultimately fell too far behind in the second half.

Colin Flannery, Jack Louer (Clifton, NJ/Clifton), and Patrick Piazza (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) added the other three goals. Jack Daresta (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) tallied eight saves in goal while Bryon Rimmer (Hatfield, PA/North Penn) chipped in five more. Nick Butler (Northport, NY/Northport) picked up a team high four ground balls while Ryan Droluk (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) added three more.

The Privateers finish the season 8-1 overall and will look to defend their back-to-back Skyline titles in 2022.
