THROGGS NECK, NY – On Saturday afternoon, the Maritime College women's soccer team hosted Manhattanville at Reinhart Field. The Privateers (3-6-0, 0-6-0 Skyline) were unable to snap their losing streak, though, as the Valiants (6-2-2, 4-0-1 Skyline) earned an 8-0 victory.
Manhattanville scored two goals in 45 seconds early in the first half and led 5-0 at halftime. After the Valiants added tallies in the 51
st minute and the 57
th minute, Manhattanville's Jennifer Xiong capped the scoring in the 87
th minute.
Xiong also had three assists, while Natalie Aracena and Kelly Barrera both found the back of the net twice for Manhattanville. Alexa Pyatsky (6-2-2) played the first 60 minutes in goal and made one save, while Stephanie Shalhoub finished up the shutout.
Lizzie Pomaro (Farmingville, NY) (3-6-0) made a season-high 10 saves in net for the Privateers.
Up next, Maritime visits Mount St. Vincent (4-4-1, 3-2-0 Skyline) for a 4 p.m. matchup on Wednesday. It will be the Privateers' final road game of the season.
