The Maritime College cross country teams traveled north to the New Paltz Invitational on Saturday afternoon, where both the men's and women's team competed in 8k and 6k races, respectively.
On the women's side,
Rebecca Zareva (Allen, TX/Allen ISD High School) and
Rachel Zareva (Allen, TX/Allen ISD High School) led the way with times of 27:20.5 and 27:32.7, respectively. The freshmen duo continued their strong 2019 campaign, while
Bethany Champlin (Bronx, N.Y./Saint Vincent)Â added another solid performance with a 23rd place finish and a time of 29:20.7.
Charlotte Anich (Flushing, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy)Â capped off the Privateers day with a 29th place finish and a time of 31:23.4.
On the men's side, the Privateers finished fourth overall and 19 points ahead of conference foe, Mount Saint Mary. Freshman
Jack Lehnhardt (Dunkirk, MD/Northern High School) was the first Privateer to finish the race as he crossed the line with a time of 28:54.6. Also finishing in the top 20 was fellow freshman
Patrick Wisti (Ronkonkoma, NY/Sachem North) who placed 19th with a time of 30:02.8.
Marco Rosado (Lajas, Puerto Rico/Academia San Agustin y Espiritu Santo)Â was the next to finish the race as he placed 24th. Just 11 seconds behind him, was sophomore
Matthew Maidhof (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West)Â who finished 26th with a time of 30:51.2. Closing out Maritime's point scorers was
Austen Rohmann (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg),
Kyle Pabalan (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge), and
Jonah Yonks (Mount Sinai, NY/Mount Sinai) who finished 28th, 29th, and 30th, respectively.Â
Next weekend, Maritime will return to the Fred Pavlich Invitational, where the men's team placed first overall a season ago. To see the full results from the races,
