The Maritime College baseball team dropped a 12-5 ball game in non-conference action to Ramapo on Wednesday afternoon. The visiting Privateers were unable to respond to the Roadrunners offensive outburst as they fall to 15-8 on the 2019 season after winning ten straight games.
Freshman
Blaise Delise (Bellerose, NY/High School for Construction) made the start for the Privateers, in a game that coach
Charlie Barbieri used several pitchers out of his bullpen. In two innings, the freshman struck out two batters on four hits, and allowed two earned runs.
On offense, Maritime muscled up 10 hits.
Joe Scerra (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) went 4-for-5 in the contest to lead the Privateers offensive effort. Behind Scerra, five Privateers contributed RBI's, including
Joe Cordero (Franklin Square, N.Y./Kellenberg),
Adam Mosca (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa),
Ryan Rockhill (Eastchester, NY/Tuckahoe),
Eric Wenig (Simi Valley, CA/Simi Valley), and
Travis Zurita (Ozone Park, N.Y./Poly Prep).
Maritime will look to bounce back, as they return to the field this Saturday in Skyline Conference action versus Old Westbury. After visiting Old Westbury, the Privateers will conclude the weekend road trip as they head to St. Joseph's Long Island for a pair of games.
