The Privateers defense held strong for the majority of the first half, but in the 26th minute the Dolphins were finally able to break through and take a 1-0 advantage. With two minutes left in the half, Maritime's offense made a final push to tie the game as a shot from
Caitlin Etienne (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) went just wide. After withstanding a flurry of shots, they entered the locker rooms trailing by just one goal.
In the first minute of the second half, the Privateers kept the pressure on as
Anya Josberger (Coxsackie, NY/Coxsackie-Athens) registered a shot on target that was saved. Maritime tallied five more shots and another corner kick in the half, but were unable to tie the game. Pomaro and the Privateers defense continued to stand strong in the second half as they turned away 17 shots.
