YONKERS, N.Y. - The Maritime College women's soccer team fell to Skyline Conference opponent, Sarah Lawrence, 2-1, on Saturday evening at Fleming Field. With the loss, Maritime falls to 4-6 (0-3) on the season.

In the 20th minute, the Gryphons opened up the scoring to take a 1-0 lead. In the 38th minute, shots by Sara Wright (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) and Brianne Etienne (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) caused trouble for the Sarah Lawrence defense, causing an own goal, and the Privateers were able to even up the score before going into halftime.

Coming out of the locker room, the hosts broke the tie with a goal in the 56th minute. The Privateers went on the offensive, rattling off five shots to attempt a comeback but were unable to find the back of the net.

For the match, Lizzie Pomaro (Farmingville, NY/Newfield) finished with 11 saves.

Maritime will continue conference play on Tuesday, October 8, when they travel to Riverdale, N.Y. to face Mount St. Vincent. Kick off is scheduled for 4:15 PM.
