THROGGS NECK, NY - The Maritime College women's soccer team was unable to take out Skyline Conference foe Mount Saint Mary on Wednesday night in a rainy matchup. A quick start propelled the Knights to 5-0 victory.
Mount Saint Mary found the back of the net twice in the first ten minutes, which allowed them to take early control of the momentum and never look back. The Knights went on to tack on two more goals before the half ended and entered the locker rooms with a 4-0 advantage.
In the second half, the Privateers saw more success on the offensive end in the second half as
Sara Wright (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) had multiple chances at putting Maritime on the board. However, strong play from the Knights goalie kept the Privateers off the board and they were able to hold on to the shutout.
Freshman goalkeeper
Lizzie Pomaro (Farmingville, NY/Newfield) picked up six saves in net. Maritime will look to get back in the win column this Saturday when they travel to Sarah Lawrence for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
