On Tuesday afternoon, the Maritime women's soccer team dropped a road contest against the Mount St. Mary's Knights by a score of 5-0. The Privateers loss drops them to 2-9-1 overall this season and 1-5-1 in Skyline Conference games. The Knights, who were picked second in the Skyline Preseason Coaches Poll, improve to 11-4-1 and to 7-0 in conference play.

Despite the challenge that was the offense of the undefeated Knights, the Privateers managed to have an impressive defensive showing. The Privateers defensive performance was highlighted by a strong 35-minute stretch following an early Knights goal. After the Knights struck early in the 6
th minute, the Privateers persevered and held the Knights scoreless until two goals in the final minute of the first half. Led by a block in the 12
th minute and a team save in the 13
th, and 35
th minute, the Privateers withstood the highly generated offense of the Knights.
Behind goal the Privateers received another stellar game from
Cammie Havens (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Borough). Havens performance in goal was good enough for 17 saves on the night. Â Havens, stretch of seven consecutive goals saved was key in silencing the Knights offensive for most of the first half.
The Privateers will look to bounce back on Saturday, Oct. 20 when they play host to Purchase College at noon.
