Men's Soccer Drops First Round Playoff Matchup with Old Westbury

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime men's soccer team fell 3-0, on Saturday night in the first round of the Skyline Conference playoffs to the Panthers of Old Westbury on Reinhart Field.
 
The Privateers recorded five shots from five different players, none of which were on goal. Sophomore goalie Michael Rodriguez (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) made two saves on the night.
 
In the 3rd minute Old Westbury beat a Maritime defender up the sidelines, which then led to a cross into the box and headed in for the goal to give Old Westbury the 1-0 lead.
 
Overall in the first half Old Westbury led in shots 5-3. The Privateers led 3-0 in corner kicks.
 
In the second half Old Westbury pushed their lead to 3-0. Maritime could not make a comeback as they managed just two shots in the half.
 
On the match, Old Westbury won the shots, 13-5 including 5-0 for shots on goal. Maritime won the corner kicks 4-2.

Maritime (11-5-2, 5-3-1 Skyline) has been eliminated from the playoffs but could still receive a bid to the ECAC Tournament.
 
Old Westbury (10-5-3, 5-3-1 Skyline) will return to action Wednesday, November 1st when they travel to number one seed Mount St. Mary in the Skyline Conference semifinals beginning at 7 p.m.
