Women’s Soccer Tripped Up on the Road vs. Purchase

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Maritime women's soccer team dropped a Skyline Conference road matchup to the Purchase Panthers on Wednesday evening by the score of 2-0.
 
In goal junior Cammie Havens (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Borough) made 10 saves in the match, while the Privateers were able to muster two shots with one coming from sophomore Kayla Kelly (South Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) and the other from freshman Ashley Giorgio (Islip, N.Y./Islip).
 
Purchase got on the board in the 17th minute to take the early 1-0 lead, as the slim one-goal lead held until the halftime break.
 
Maritime got their first shot of the match in the 67th minute as Kelly had her shot blocked by the defense, followed by Giorgio's on-target shot that was denied. Purchase followed a few minutes later with their second goal of the contest to take a 2-0 lead.
 
Maritime (4-7-2, 1-5-1 Skyline) returns home on Saturday afternoon, when the team will host the Mount St. Mary Knights for an 11 a.m. kickoff on Reinhart Field.
 
Purchase (5-8-0, 3-4-0 Skyline) will host City College of New York on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. from the Purchase College Field.
