NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Maritime women's soccer team traveled to take on the City College of New York Beavers on Wednesday afternoon on Randall's Island and fell by a 4-0 score.
Maritime had three shots on the afternoon with junior
Gayle Woods (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) recording a pair of shots, including one on goal. Fellow junior
Jessica Yee (Freehold, N.J./Freehold) also had one shot that was on target.
In goal, sophomore
Cammie Havens (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Borough) stopped 10 shots on the afternoon as she played the entirety of the match in goal for the team. One key highlight for the game came when Havens stopped a penalty kick in the 55th minute of play.
City College of New York jumped on the board first with a goal in the ninth minute. The Beavers followed that up with two more goals in the first half to take a 3-0 advantage into the halftime break. The team added its fourth and final goal of the match in the closing minutes to pick up the win.
Maritime (3-10, 1-3 Skyline) will wrap-up its four-game road trip on Friday, when the team takes on Sage at 6 p.m. from the Albany College of Pharmacy Field. This will be the final time the Privateers and Gators will meet as Skyline Conference opponents.
City College of New York (3-5, 0-2 CUNYAC) will also resume league play on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., when the Beavers play host to the Brooklyn Bulldogs on Randall's Island.
