THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – Maritime men's basketball celebrated senior night on Tuesday evening prior to the team's final home game of the 2014-15 season, the ensuing game resulted in the Old Westbury Panthers came away with the victory by the score of 80-67.

Sophomore
Brendon Halligan (Durham, N.Y./Cairo-Durham) ended the night with a team-best 17 points, while senior
T'Vaughn Gibson (Freeport, Bahamas/Sunland Baptist Academy) capped off his home career with 16 points and eight rebounds. Senior
Sean Corley (Harlem, N.Y./Thurgood Marshall Academy) contributed with seven points and also had seven rebounds to go along with eight assists, rookie
Patrick MacDonald (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) also had a solid game recording a double-double of 14 points and 11 boards.

Sophomore
Tim Hoch (Coventry, R.I./Fishers Island (N.Y.)) chipped in with seven points, while classmate
Bobby Parlow (Bay Head, N.J./Point Pleasant Beach) got the starting nod and connected on six points to cap off the Privateer scoring for the evening.

The game began with a 5-0 burst by Old Westbury out of the gates, but Parlow stopped the early run with a jumper off a pass from Corley. The Panthers then took an 8-2 lead, but Maritime was able to trim the deficit to four on layups by Gibson and MacDonald to make the score 10-6 with 15:40 left in the opening period.

The Panthers took a seven-point lead at 20-13, but MacDonald knocked down a layup followed by a long-range jumper dialed up by Gibson to once again pull the Privateers back within two. Several possessions later, Hoch tied the game with a layup with 6:07 mark of the game, followed by Halligan dropping a three-point basket to give Maritime its first lead at 29-26.

Maritime got its lead up to six points with 15 seconds to go in the half on a Corley three-pointer, but Old Westbury came right back up the court to sink a three-pointer of its own to send Maritime into the halftime break up by a 36-33 score.

Old Westbury came back out with a quick basket to pull back within one, but Halligan again stepped back for a three-pointer to put the Privateers ahead by a 39-35 score. Following another Panther layup, Parlow stepped back for a rare three-pointer and knocked it down to put the Privateers up by five.

With the game tied at 44, Maritime knocked down back-to-back three pointers as Halligan continued to stay hot from the land of the three as he finished the night with five three-point baskets. The Privateers were able to get their lead up to seven, but the Panthers came back and knotted the game at 54.

The Panthers got their lead back up to five points, but Halligan again put down a key three-pointer followed by Gibson sinking a layup after an important defensive rebounds by Parlow, who then knocked down a free throw shot to tie the game at 64.

Old Westbury then stormed out for a 15-0 run to take a 79-64 lead, Gibson capped off the Privateer scoring with a three-pointer followed by one more free throw by the Panthers as the scoring came to a close at 80-67 in favor of the Panthers.

Maritime (6-18, 4-13 Skyline) will wrap up the season on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. when the team heads to Riverdale to take on the Mount St. Vincent Dolphins. Old Westbury (10-13, 10-6 Skyline) will host St. Joseph's (LI) on Thursday evening for a 6 p.m. start against the Golden Eagles as the Panthers will also celebrate senior night.
