PURCHASE, N.Y. (Jan. 31, 2014) - The Maritime men's swimming team has done it again! The Privateers have won their seventh straight Skyline Conference Championship Meet. The meet was held at Purchase College on Thursday night. At the same meet, the Maritime women's squad finished in fifth place out of the six Skyline teams.
The men's squad scored 129 points, beating out second place Mount St. Mary College (95) by 34 points. Purchase placed third with 61, Old Westbury came in fourth with 47 points and Mount St. Vincent finished last with eight points.
Maritime also had nine swimmers earn First Team All-Skyline accolades by winning their respective events. Junior
Daniel Hemmer (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) led the squad with three first place finishes, thus earning First Team honors three times over, while two other Privateers earned First Team twice with two victories on the night.
Hemmer was a member of the meet-opening 200 medley relay squad that came out on top with a time of 1:46.18. He then went on to win both the 100 yard butterfly event in 2:15.42 and the 200 fly in 55.74.
After being named Skyline Rookie of the Week earlier this week, freshman
Robert Lewis (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) won both distance events on the evening. He touched first in the 1000 yard freestyle event in 11:22.93 and later won the 500 free in 55.74.
Junior
Collin McNamara (Somerville, N.J./St. Joseph-Metuchen) also won two events as he was a member of the 200 medley relay squad along with Hemmer and also the meet-finishing 400 yard relay team that won in 3:35.72. McNamara also earned two Second Team honors by finishing in second place in both the 50 free (23.41) and the 100 free (52.00).

Brendan Erskine (Maspeth, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) as part of the 200 medley relay team and freshman
Jonathan Murray (Long Beach, N.Y./Kellenberg), sophomore
Peter Skerys (Sag Harbor, N.Y./Pierson) and freshman
Scott Armstrong (Rotterdam, N.Y./Mohonasen) as part of the 400 free relay squad.
Haughn also collected a Second Team honor with second-place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.57. Sophomore
Matthew Cannon (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) also earned Second Team accolades, his in the 200 free with a time of 1:56.29.
On the women's side, the squad earned 29 points on the night to finish fifth. Mount St. Mary took home the Skyline title with a score of 139. Hosts Purchase followed up in second place with 58, while St. Joseph's (50) and Mount St. Vincent (48) took third and fourth, respectively. Old Westbuy rounded out the crowd with a sixth place finish with 28 points.

Kwantisha Lozada (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) and freshmen
Ashley O'Brien (Middle Village, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy) and
Treasa Murphy (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) also came in third place in 4:16.22.
The Privateers will close out the 2013-14 season the weekend of Feb. 14 at the Metropolitan Conference Championships that will be held at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.
