Women’s Soccer Scores Third-Straight Win With 3-1 Victory Over John Jay

        RANDALL'S ISLAND, N.Y. (Sept. 7, 2013) – The Maritime women's soccer team travelled to Randall's Island on Saturday to take on non-conference opponent John Jay. The Privateers came away with a 3-1 victory, their third straight win, to improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Bloodhounds fall to 0-3.
 
        Senior Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) scored all three goals on the day for Maritime – one unassisted, another off a free kick and the third assisted by freshman Marisa Athan (Mineola, N.Y./Mineola) (Mineola, N.Y./Mineola). The Privateers came close to scoring a fourth goal, but the effort by junior Melanie Lopez (Yonkers, N.Y./Saunders Trades & Technical) (Yonkers, N.Y./Saunders Trades & Technical) was negated due to an offside whistled on the play.
 
        In goal, sophomore Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East) tallied eight saves and earned her third straight victory in net.
 
        Junior Alexis Ochoa scored the only goal for John Jay and that came in 59th minute. It was assisted by sophomore Natalie Cervantes. Sophomore keeper Andrea Antoni made eight saves in the losing effort.
 
        Maritime will play next this Friday, Sept. 13, when the Privateers welcome in King's College (N.Y.) for a 5 p.m. tilt at Reinhart Field.
