Privateers Drop 2026 Finale

THROGGS NECK, NY – On Wednesday night, the Maritime College women's soccer team wrapped up its 2026 season by hosting St. Joseph's LI.  With a 3-0 victory over the Privateers (3-12-1, 2-9-0 Skyline) at Reinhart Field, the Golden Eagles (7-9-0, 5-6-0 Skyline) clinched the sixth and final spot in the Skyline Conference Tournament.

St. Joseph's LI opened the scoring in the 12th minute, when Jocelyn Forseth took a cross from Madison Caputo and put it away from the right side of the box.  Madison Maher then sent a blast from outside the box into the back of the net in the 20th minute.  Maritime nearly got on the board in the 34th minute, but Eva Garcia's (Rockville Centre, NY) attempt was saved.  Garcia then hit the post in the 51st minute before Mather's second goal of the game off a corner kick put the Golden Eagles ahead 3-0.

Devon Etienne (Garden City, NY) (2-9-1) finished with 10 saves in her final contest for the Privateers.  Her graduation concludes a decade in which at least one of four Etienne sisters was on the Maritime roster.

Kristin Vahley (7-9-0) was credited with one save while posting a clean sheet for St. Joseph's LI.  Forseth's goal was her seventh of the year, and Maher now has four goals on the season.

Along with Etienne, this was the last game for two other Privateer seniors—Hannah Cote (Canaan, VT) and Nicole Mejia (Garden City, NY).  Mejia, who served as Maritime's goalkeeper in four games while Etienne was injured earlier this season, played all 90 minutes for the third straight game and the 11th time this year.
